In 2005, he won his first of two boston globe scholastic art awards for selected works. the following year, before he graduated, kevin was awarded the apponequet high school art award and scholarship. in 2006 kevin moved to boston, massachusetts and began studying architecture at the wentworth institute of technology. during his first year, he participated in an alternative winter break program, where a group of students designed and renovated an existing building in new orleans that was destroyed by hurricane katrina. then in 2009, kevin traveled to europe for a semester. he lived in berlin, germany and traveled to a number of different countries including france, italy and the netherlands, where he focused his studies on urban design. following the completion of his undergrad studies in 2010, kevin was accepted into the master of architecture program at wentworth. during the first half of the year, he enrolled in a travel studio that spent time in both kyoto and osaka, japan, experiencing japan’s traditional architecture and its strong relationship to nature and oneself. during the second half of the year, kevin prepared his thesis within times square. he investigated architecture’s reliance on two dimensional materiality and focused on the potential of overlooked in-between spaces behind the ephemeral imagery of the area. today, kevin continues to pursue a career in design and is currently working collaboratively with a small group of very talented individuals at studio schwitalla in berlin, germany.
